Black Girl Woman
São Paulo - SP, Brazil. 2023

Comprising three stories featuring Black female protagonists, Black Girl Woman – Part Two presents the stories of Larissa S/A, Janaína, and Deolinda.

The fourth story features Larissa, a Black executive who is successful in her career, while Jussara, her former love from her youth, returns to São Paulo unemployed.

The fifth story is about Janaína, a Black teenager living in the Bixiga neighborhood in 1973, who experiences the relentless real estate speculation in the neighborhood while organizing herself to play and sing for the first time in a samba circle.

The sixth story is Deolinda, a story that introduces Judge Deolinda, who is judging Cristiane, a Black defendant, and both women have experienced something very similar.

It is important to point out that the film has no connection whatsoever with Jorge Benjor's music. There are examples of this in Brazilian cinema, such as the feature film "Pro dia nascer feliz" (2004, João Jardim) and numerous Globo soap operas that have titles reminiscent of excerpts or song titles, but which bear no relation to the music.

Directed by: Bárbara Magalhanis and Renato Cândido
